Champagne, France!

We went of the Eurostar on Friday evening and had some wine and chatted to all the people around us on the way. We connected in Paris for a train to Reims where we were staying. Saturday was our main day of exploring the Champagne Houses, we went to 3, Pommery, Demouiselle (a sister company of Pommery) & Veuve Cliquot Ponsardin. I think Pommery was our favourite, as you will see from the pics they are very into there are too.

Outside Pommery Champagne House

The stairs down into the "caves". There is 18km of underground cellars!

This is another piece of art. They keep finches in a warm room which has lots of old guitars in it - when the finches land on the guitars it creates "music" they tell us : )

Some more weird art

Sorry Lynchy I caught you in the headlights here I think!

Bottles galore all maturing.

Finally our tasting : )

The strange colour light is because they have coloured panels in the ceiling and the sun comes streaming through.

Locked behind some gates, one bottle of every vintage they have ever made.

Ah we had to take one of the ring - hee hee.

Enjoying a beer?!

We now know that Veuve means widow in English - so it is the Widow of Cliquot Ponsardin

We couldn't resist!
